  1. Zcash launches Zakura node, aiming to support 50,000 transactions per second

    Odaily Planet Daily News: Zcash has launched a new full node, Zakura, maintained by a team independent of the Zcash Foundation. It is released as a fast-sync branch that is a trimmed version of Zebra and is compatible with the legacy zcashd client, whose lifecycle will end on July 18th.\ \ Zakura is part of Zcash's scaling efforts, working in conjunction with Project Tachyon and private information retrieval research. The goal is to increase network throughput to the level of Visa and Mastercard by reducing verification data and eliminating wallet performance bottlenecks.\ \ Zakura also supports the Ironwood (NU6.3) upgrade, which will be activated on July 28th. This upgrade introduces a turnstile mechanism to limit withdrawals from the Orchard shielded pool and to control the creation of counterfeit ZEC that could be generated by potential long-term soundness bugs.

    Odaily Odaily News July 17, according to SoSoValue data, the crypto market sectors are broadly declining, with the DeFi sector showing weakness, falling 5.08% in 24 hours. Among them, Hyperliquid (HYPE) fell 10.28%, DeXe (DEXE) and Aave (AAVE) fell 4.83% and 6.12% respectively, but Beldex (BDX) bucked the trend, rising 6.61%. Meanwhile, Bitcoin (BTC) fell 1.79%, dropping below $64,000; Ethereum (ETH) fell 3.53%, slipping below $1,900. In other sectors, the Layer 2 sector fell 0.63% in 24 hours, but Mantle (MNT) rose 3.16%; the CeFi sector fell 0.94%, with Cronos (CRO) surging 8.68% during the session; the PayFi sector fell 2.32%, with Zcash (ZEC) falling 6.88%; the Layer 1 sector fell 2.41%, with NEAR Protocol (NEAR) falling 4.64%; and the Meme sector fell 2.57%, with Bonk (BONK) falling 5.70%. The crypto sector indices, reflecting historical sector performance, show that the ssiDeFi, ssiSocialFi, and ssiAI indices fell by 5.97%, 4.24%, and 3.56%, respectively.

In other sectors, the PayFi sector fell 0.59%, but eCash (XEC) rose 10.64%; the Meme sector dropped 0.61%, while Pump.fun (PUMP) bucked the trend with a gain of 6.57%; the Layer2 sector declined 0.94%, with Stacks (STX) falling 4.54%; and the SocialFi sector decreased 1.98%, with Chiliz (CHZ) down 2.91%.
